Wedding pictures

After a month, I finally feel I have some perspective on our wedding today. First, being married is fabulous! Second, the day was so much more than I thought it would be. It was wonderful to be surrounded by so many loved ones as we made our commitment. We had 120 people with us for our wedding, and it was the perfect amount. We were able to get around, see people, and not be pulled in too many directions.

I don't have all the pictures, but there is a small collection up on our photographer's website. And while I am mentioning them, I'd like to give them the heartiest thanks ever. We were able to fly out two of my friends from high school, and I am beyond glad we made that decision. I love the photos we've seen so far, and I can't wait to share more. I will tell more stories and post photos as time goes on.

Water

One of my dear college friends lives in Spain. Despite our distance, sometimes it feels like we are living parallel lives. We are both newly married, one-pet families, and we are both studying education. Today, on her blog, I read about another similarity: we've both been swimming recently.

Matt and I try to hit the community pool once a week or so. Admission is rolled in with our gym membership, so that's a gentle encouragement to go. I really enjoy the quiet time in the water. I have a system for keeping track of the laps I've done, so I mostly just push through and enjoy being a little fishy.

I am not quite as good as my friend Viola. Tonight, I swam 20 laps of 50 yards each. I am working my way up to a mile of swimming. But I do share a love of the water with her. There's just something good about working out without getting sweaty and gross. It does seem strange to me that, at the end of a set of laps, I have to come out of the water to breathe heavily, but I have not noticed any of the other hallmarks of heavy exercise.

I still love to run, and this is a good way to keep my workouts fresh and varied. Perhaps, one of these days, I will find a triathlon to do.
