In Spain, and warm

Hey all -- I´m now in Spain. We´re staying near the town of Marbella on Spain´s Costa del Sol, and it sure is sunny here. Definitely nice to be able to walk on the beach in short sleeves.

We spent a night in London, and we went to the Natural History museum there before getting to the airport for our flight to Spain. I´m looking forward to my whole day in London on the return trip -- I´m hoping to hit some art museums (Tate Modern, esp!).

We´re staying at a timeshare my parents have in Spain. This isn´t exactly a pick up and go trip -- it´s been planned for quite awhile. I´m just lucky that I managed to take 10 days off school. I had to find someone to fill in for me as a proctor (my students have an exam on Monday), but other than that, doing prelims meant that I don´t have too many responsibilities for the rest of the semester.

Today, we walked around the boardwalk in Marbella and enjoyed the town. Nothing fancy. We´re planning to go to Gibralter, Malaga, and Granada in the next few days here, so I´ll get to see the Alhambra again!

Anyway, I´ll check in next time I get the internet. Just wanted to let everyone know what I´m up to. And, of course, I´ll put up pictures once I get home.

Little Bits

I am now done with prelims (and I find out results in December). Theoretically, I should have more time, but I am busy grading and preparing for Spain (I'm going to Spain and London for 10 days over Thanksgiving). Therefore, you all get little bits.

-> I went to a They Might be Giants concert in Grand Rapids yesterday. GR is ~ 2 hours away, so it was a nice drive, and it's the first time I've been to the west side of the state. The concert was a lot of fun, and my date and I had sushi dinner beforehand. Yum.

-> I went to see "Into the Wild" and "Lars and the Real Girl." Both are fabulous movies. I'd recommend the latter first and then the previous. I'd like to write a review of them, but I haven't had time.

-> I'm now done with frisbee for the season. My team only won one game . . . but we had a lot of fun, and we spent a lot of time hanging out. I did something post-game with my team after almost every game. Typically, we went out and snagged dinner, and we also had two parties this season. I'm sad to be done, but it's getting really cold, so it's probably for the better.

-> Packing is not fun, but it needs to be done, so I'll be going now.
