Vincent Van Gogh was born on this day today in 1853 (April, who knew you shared a birthday with someone so famous?). I love Google's homage to Van Gogh.
Last year, at about this time, I spent an excruciating two Saturdays in the Van Gogh museum (Amsterdam; absolutely beautiful museum, and ask me for tips about visiting) cataloguing each and every painting in the place. I classified each painting by era, brush style, dominant color, frame style, and theme. Absolutely awful, but it did give me a newfound appreciation for the complexity of art, and I actually learned to appreciate Van Gogh's work, which I had previously dismissed as too namby-pamby.
Today, take some time to enjoy a Van Gogh. What's your favorite?
