So, I got bronchitis for a month. I meant to post a lot during all my time recuperating on the couch, but that obviously didn't happen. But I'm here to share my jubilation in being able to exercise again!
Matt and I went on a bike ride today! Our primary goal was to justify getting small blizzards at DQ. Our secondary goal was to start training for a century ride. That is 100 miles of bike riding, folks. It's really Matt's big goal, but I don't want him to go alone, so I am training too. I am actually really loving the team partnership aspect of marriage.
The picture above shows our bike trip. We did 8.83 miles in an hour and 19 minutes. What you can't exactly see from the pic is that a good early chunk of our bike ride was through the local nature center. This is where I worked for my first year in our town, how I met Matt, and still one of my favorite places. It's all path riding and some hills, so it was slow going through there.
I haven't biked more than a mile or so in ages (easily a year or two), so this is just our little start. Our hope is to bike the century by the end of the summer.
The ride went fairly well. It was rough going at parts, and we did get lost for awhile. We managed to follow a trail to a part of town neither of us have been to before. The break at DQ came at just the right time -- just before mile 7 -- and then it was smooth sailing home.
I track my walks/runs/rides on Endomondo, so feel free to let me know if you use it too so we can be friends. I'm also tracking my workouts on fitocracy for the level-up and video game fun (more on this in a future post). For tonight, however, time to rest, relax, and rehydrate in preparation for some weight lifting tomorrow.
